I am exactly where you are. Sadly, I don't think this part of your excellent post is true: I think we all agree that there is too much on the line to allow any of the democrats to win the White House.

There are people here who seem to me perfectly prepared to lose the White House, and aren't willing to compromise at all in order to keep it.

There are some issues on which I am more than willing to compromise. There are others that do not lend themselves to comrpomise. Some issues are black and white, good and evil. Abortion is one. It is the hill upon which I am prepared to die.

We can surrender some hills and still win the war, but if we surrender on this hill in order to win, then we will have lost that for which we had so sorely fought. We must hold this hill or we must die trying.
