Thanks for your kind words! Wasn’t there a Stoat in “The Wind in the Willows”?

I actually wrote a long reply to you this morning and then the electricity went off and erased it all.

I’ve been away from FR just because I have many other responsibilities and interests and some involve actual people... Sigh, I need to sleep less.

I started the Moral Absolutes list to cover moral decay, why it should be turned around, and help people become aware of the gravity of it, and how much worse it’s getting. Basic moral absolutes are essentially the same throughout history and all over the world, in every religion, and by rejecting them we are ushering in an era of unimaginable barbarity and ultimately anarchy, which will be followed by totalitarian repression. I have a wonderful quote from Edmund Burke which says it beautifully; I’ve posted it numerous times on FR.

Every really great thinker, seer of truth, moralist - says the same thing. For instance, the Golden Rule - do unto others as you would have them do unto you - is extant in every religion in the world, including Buddhism, which isn’t really a religion, sort of a quasi religion. The basic virtures of sexual restraint, honesty, loyalty, forbearance, forgiveness, fortitude, sobriety, charity - are the same throughout history. I’m not saying that every culture or society was an embodiment of these! But any society which rejects the basic moral asbolutes spirals into ruin very soon.

I was planning to write an essay about the universality of moral absolutes with examples from all kinds of religions but never got to it. I should, though.

You're quite welcome  :-)  I don't recall a stoat there, but I do remember Ratty and Mole, who used to enjoy "messing about in boats".

I'm honored that you would spend so much time and trouble for a scruffy old stoat, and your efforts are sincerely appreciated.  Hopefully, Santa Claus will put a battery backup system in your stocking this Christmas   :-)

Responsibilities are good...they help to keep us out of trouble   :-)

Agreed.

It sounds like a nice project.  Be sure to get a battery backup before you start, however, and set your word processor to autosave every few minutes :-)
