You are using logic, reason, sanity and a coherent, thoughtful perspective in an effort to understand the actions of criminally-negligent slobs. Historically, this has never worked.

The article leaves such essential details out, and my guess is that we will never know any additional details on this because it not only involves a minor, female victim but a fully-protected minority (lesbian) and so all principals in the matter are protected by law as well as 'journalistic' political correctness.
That being said, I would suggest that if they are indeed married, they do not understand their vows or what marriage means. They have not only allowed their daughter to be horribly harmed, they have insulted God.
