The article mentions that English is notthe girl’s family’s native language. It doesn’t say whether the parents actually speak English at all, or what nationality they are, or whether they are here illegally. I think that there is a lot more to this story than has been reported.

I’ve been wondering how the girl could think that her “boyfriend” was a male, for a whole year. It doesn’t make sense. This is worse than the pedophiles in in AZ who were molesting the man that they thought was a 12 year old boy, enrolled in the public school.

Indeed it's very creepy, and filled with a deeply unsettling mix of  malice and breathtaking stupidity from one end to the other.

I have no doubt that you're correct, and we will never hear any more details about it either, for two main reasons:

1.  The victim is a minor

2.  The perpetrator is a lesbian and as such is a fully protected minority who can pretty much get away with what they like in the eyes of the media.  Any true investigative reporting on this would be frowned upon by the reporter's colleagues, who would make accusations of 'gay bashing'.  That sort of thing is death to a career.
