Just a thought, but how do you think how people will react to the 30-year difference in the ages of Fred and Jeri?

They're married with a child--who cares about their ages?
People are gonna have to find something better to condemn Fred for, because if this is it, the presidency's a shoo-in. ;-)

I don't think anybody gives a crap.
Speaking for myself though, I think big age differential is asking for heartache. It means a prolonged period of widowhood for the younger spouse.
The wisest move is for a man to find a woman about 3-5 years old than him, since that's about the difference in life expectancy.

It just show me his good taste in women.
I agree. She might be old enough to be my mother (I'm 25) but that doesn't prevent me from saying that she's a fine looking woman. Kudos to FT.

I couldn't care less. She's pretty, and she smiles. If she has a pleasant voice, imagine the contrast with the other women we'll be seeing in the campaign!

Isn't she 40? No big deal.Actually, I think she is 36 but not sure, could be 38, but no older.
To: zarf
Dang, she's had some surgery!

SORRY. If you find fault with Fred Thompson, you are going to have to against a large number of U S Males that have done the same thing.Hey, I find no fault at all, I was just wondering what the general public might think.
My personal take on Jeri: she's a fox.
To: OldPossum
I think a woman of forty is mature enough for the White House and the age difference won't be a problem at all.

Oh, my mistake. She's 40. Not quite old enough to be my mother.
But my other point still stands: she's a fine looking woman.

People are acting as if she's 22 or something. She's young, but not THAT young to where she's be too immature to be a First Lady.

Would you like to repeat that in an intelligent sentence? Again, how old was she when they married?

Re your post 42, you are correct. Since women outlive men by some six years on average, a woman who marries a man older than she is is statistically bound to be a widow and for quite a number of years.
I had the occasion once to pass by an upscale apartment building for the elderly and there was a communal party going on outside. With two exceptions, the crowd of some 50-60 were all women. It struck me as sad.
