Squarebarb:
There were some of us including GOPpoet who were thinking of starting a writer's thread here on FR. There's a horse thread, a football thread, a Hobbit Hole thread, so why not a thread for us writers?
And mainly sticking to fiction otherwise the discussion tends toward politicsa iinstead of the craft of writing.
Okay Eleutheria5, YOU start the thread."
Eleutheria5:
On it. Could use some help from someone who knows how to do HTTP and other techy stuff, though. Tried to learn, but drat that right hemisphere dominance we creative folks have. I've actually been running a board on the aol writers' club since 1996 called Conservative Writers' Club. Mostly it simply fights flame wars with liberal writers, though, and all the conservative contributors, including me, burn out. It'd be great to get away from that and just swap ideas with people who DON'T wish every one of us a flaming death.

Not only do I think your horse was heroic, I think your hat was too!
Behold the Twisted pencil.
Ping to Righter’s Club
We were considering first of all, heroes.
Secondly, the animal companions of the hero. Or perhaps animals can be heroic in themselves. I am generally following The Writer's Journey and of course the many writings on myth and symbol.
Doves for instance.
Carton, I think the only thing to come out of that mess unscathed was me. Horse and hat were a mess.
How are you doing with your studies?
You said you took your two cats with you to Israel. Good for you. What companions they are.
Acutally, I took all three of them. I took one on the plane and shipped the other two. Right now, they are having minor health problems, but they are doing okay!
I am going to spend time today looking for images of writers, writerly activity.
I tease and say my house is run by a thirteen pound tyrant. And it is.
Hopefully indeed. It's my sincere hope that you didn't find it awful halfway through and toss the printout into the nearest waste paper bin.
I'm rather childish in my anxiousness for a review, I know...but there it is.
Check your email.
I think the review boils down to “good in spots, but flawed.” Yes, that’s the answer I keep coming up with myself. =]
Not just spots... there is more that is very right with it than wrong with it. Much more in fact. Since you know this yourself... you will be able to fix it. I have confidence in you. :>}
Is the expression: the jig is up or the gig is up?
I am going to call it quits on the righter’s Club.
I had hoped to get something going much like LIBERTAS has with film, but it’s not going to happen.
Oh well it was a good try.
I have looked all over the Internet for an open and fair forum discussing contemporary or even non-contemporary literature but can’t find any.
There is The Gawker blog, but it is very frivolous and is mainly about the NY literary social scene.
Carton, you have Freepmail.
We gave it a good and valient try.
I’m sticking with it. This forum satisfies my expectations, except we should bitch more about politics just because it’s our turf and we can. But that can be arranged.
It may keep going but you will have to handle the ping list.
“It may keep going but you will have to handle the ping list.”
OK. Briefly, what does that entail?
To tell you the truth I am not sure, all I did was write down (by hand, how primitive) all the screen names I found on the original thread and then type them in in the ‘post reply’ box somewhere — anywhere on the thread, with a semi-colon in between each and then send.
think you can highlight the names and save them somewhere although I have not tried that.
