The death of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer is being treated as suspicious, a Jamaican police spokesman has said. Woolmer, 58, died on Sunday after collapsing at his hotel hours after Pakistan's World Cup loss to Ireland.
Deputy commissioner Mark Shields said there was "now sufficient information to continue a full investigation".
That investigation will be "into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Woolmer which we are now treating as suspicious," added Shields.

There was some confusing reporting going on yesterday. BBC radio initially reported her as saying she didnt believe he was murdered (I though: how would she know?) then later reported her as saying she didnt believe he committed suicide (a more plausible comment). She may, of course, have said both.
I wouldn't blame her.Only she knows what she's going through.Hope this things get wrapped up quickly & they send his body back home.
Unfortunately, the quickly part won't be happening. I have read that his body will be flown to England first, his home country, before going to Cape Town in South Africa where Bob has lived, I am assuming, since his days as SA's national coach.

These reports/rumours seem to be feeding a frenzy. If these turn out to be true,it would make Kerry Packer & the rebel tours to South Africa look like childsplay.
Irrespective of how things turn out,I frankly think that the Gentleman's game desperately needs an overhaul or it would become a cesspool of organised crime & corporate manipulation.
Being reported around the world now....

Woolmer was murdered: Jamaican Police
Another eventful chapter having something to do with Pakiland begins.........Cricket surely is the game of glorious uncertainities!!!!!
:) The country will find it difficult to get any expatriates...cricket or no cricket after this episode. Also I think there will be political consequences to Pakistan bowing out early. The people are clearly a frustrated lot these days with lawyers on protest and all. Cricket and hockey are 2 things the Pakis take pride in. Now that this has been thoroughly walloped and the murder will make it look like another match-fixing scandal. They re obviously going to be fed up with the establishment at all levels.
The time is right for a revolution-e-Pakistan. Only no leaders. They'll probably have Bhutto coming back. I feel sorry for them. 50 years ago, they looked like they had a better chance at stability than India. They are now in tatters.
Thanks!
Given some of the cases of late in the West Indies do we trust the authorities there to get to the bottom of this now-apparent murder?
Well both us & them started on an even keel after partition...almost.They had a semi-authoritarian Jinnah who booted Mountbatten out at the first chance.Gandhi for all his faults essentially handed over to multiple leaders-Nehru,Sardar Patel,Rajaji & Rajendra Prasad among others. They would have fared better if Jinnah wasn't stubborn & they stuck to democracy. They didn't-so we are all suffering for this mess.
The only way out for Pakistan is democracy irrespective of what folks on here say. Most don't have a clue that about the Punjabi dominated establishment in Pakistan-which keeps Pakistan stable & yet is pushing it towards greater instability.
About Creeket, well frankly,I think the time has come for thoroughly overhauling the game & the way it's run.And it will have to start with the Pakis & the hallowed bunch known as the Men in Blue. There is just far too much money involved.I for one wouldn't be sad if India gets thrown out early in this Cup.
Only Time will tell .But the fact is that the investigation is headed by a Scotland Yard Officer on loan to the Jamaican government & will have extensive assistance from Scotland Yard & US authorities. Not to mention the media glare.
Jumping to conclusions may be foolish, even dangerous, but if we rely on the old 'motive & opportunity' standard, it points to an enraged fan, possibly even a player, in a state over the loss to the Republic of Ireland.
Burglary would seem to be the only other possibility but it's doubtful a thief would try anything whilst the room was occupied.
The murderer should be brought to justice, but I fear the investigation, trial and result will be politicized and/or viewed through the prism of religion (i.e., Islamic fanaticism and a culture of death).
