What is the issue with people wanting to "get" cats out of a tree???

When they want to come down they will......

I haven't seen a lot of cat skeletons in trees......

We had a situation like this about 40 years ago in Pattonsburg, MO where I more or less grew up. Woman called the volunteer fire dept. and asked if they could get her cat out of a tree.

The guy said "Sure." He drove up in his truck, got out with a double barrel shotgun and before anybody could say anything, he drew a bead and blew the cat out of the tree. Used up all nine lives. Classic failure to communicate.

...but what about the tree's feelings?

How would you like to have your arm sawed off with a chainsaw? :)

'"They said, 'We don't do that, so call Animal Control.' "

Animal Control wouldn't help, either. Someone there said to call Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative. Maybe they have bucket trucks, the person said.

The electric company told Black to call the Sheriff's Office. Again, no one would help.'

They forgot the magic words, "I'll give you fifty dollars." My cat was about 50 feet up for 3 days. Fire Dept said no and I called the electric company. They said no but I offered cash. A guy was there in 30 mins.

For pete's sake! Didn't anyone consider that the cat was coming-down at night to eat and drink and then jumping into the tree during daylight when it saw any people?
