Dad was an agnostic, and always wanted proof of things, so Val fixed up a set of hankies, 6 cotton ones for Monday through Saturday, and a silk one for Sunday, embroderied with verses and the day of the week. She wrote on the instructions, "Place this hankie over the affected part of the body, and while touching that part repeat emphatically 'I hope this works!' " This came with the disclaimer, "Do not fail to seek medical attention in the event this is not effective." She then gift wrapped these in a box labeled "Anointed Hankies" and sent them to Dad for Christmas. Here he is, trying one.

Dorothy wanted the hospital to list "Stubbornness" as the cause of death, he died 2 days before his annual doctor's visit.

LOL. I'm convinced that the only reason my parents are both still alive is that neither one wants to give the other the satisfaction of going first...
