Wars of liberation have become increasingly common in recent years due to global support for humanitarian intervention. Conflicts in Kuwait and the former Yugoslavia over the past decade are significant examples of this trend in international policy. The justification for such action is the desire to restore the sovereignty and natural human rights of a people. The moral aspect of these wars distinguishes them from simple territorial conflicts. However, geopolitical issues are significant factors in liberation wars; humanitarian concerns may at times be intended simply to obscure central concerns such as the maintenance of the global balance of power or the acquisition of resources.
The Vietnam War and the Soviet war in Afghanistan are prime examples of the dual nature of liberation wars and show the development of different objectives between intervening states and the people that they are ostensibly trying to liberate.
American Ideology of the Vietnam War
In the years ensuing World War II the United States entered into the Cold War while American fear of communism was at its height.
The U.S. fought Russia to assert the global reach of their political doctrine of democracy and to prevent the proliferation of communist ideals.
The American government believed it could retain global ideological prominence by aiding countries in their attempt to pursue independence and ally with them in a quest for freedom.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was the final incident that declared the severity of the communist threat. During this period, many theories reflected and further provoked these fears; Dulles’ domino theory stated that if one country fell to communism, surrounding countries would fall as well.

As I was just PM'ed- i was reminded of something too!
When i comes to KNOWING "Histories" and facts--Conservatives normally ARE the better prepared and better able to QUOTE History and facts and links!
But we ALSO have gotten alot more "Newer" conservatives who have joined our ranks BECAUSE if the Desert Strom, Iraqi Freedom and Afganistan Wars!
but they DO NOT "Know" enough histories really to be able to FULLY Defend their arguments--
So as soon as I get a chance--I WILLpost some MORE

A great good morning to all! I've made it to the slightly busier part of the early morning without dozing off, and did a bunch of rinky-dink maintenance around here, as well as the usual paper busywork, and rearranged some furniture. :')
Motivated me to check the ratbait under the house, pleased to report most of it has been eaten.
