George C Scott and Marlon Brando have both indicated that the Oscars is a long drawn out boring event and pretty much a hassle to attend.I don't think Scott's career ever really recovered from his snub. He peaked with Patton. Is it really so hard to sit through this thing one time, smile graciously and say thank you when you win? Movie making is very much a group effort and Scott's Oscar reflected well on the entire cast and crew. And his snub was an insult to all of them, IMHO.
As for Brando, well, he was just nuts.
