February 27, 2007, TUESDAY, VISAGE

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

VISAGE

Pronunciation: 'vi-zij
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from vis face, from Latin visus sight, from vidEre to see -- more at WIT

1 : the face, countenance, or appearance of a person or sometimes an animal
2 : ASPECT, APPEARANCE (the grimy visage of a mining town)

Re No. 1: Does this sound as if it could be our very own Cook?

We call Simba "Filthy Cat"
He eats, drinks and does
his litter box three times a day.
When he comes out of his auto box
He drags sand with him all over the house.
Then there are the toys I trip on at night.
Filthy Cat. But we do love him.
And he loves us. You can tell by the bite marks
on my arms and hands. Lovie kitty.

My old kitty used to like to bite my toes
he did that one night, and I rapped him on his nose.

Sand on the carpet, toys on the floor
bells and whistles human provide
for the feline corp
we love them strong and mighty
we complain about the fur balls
and the rest of things that
cats drag in, and we love them
dearly until we are silly
those fluffy, furry kitties
of comfort in our lives.

"Filthy Cat. But we do love him."

Probably a reincarnation of Mehitabel the alley cat. She was once Cleopatra, you know.

"You enjoying your Birthday?"

Yes, I am. It started out perfectly ... with me opening my eyes.

I always figure that's a good sign. And then there's coffee, even if you have to trudge all the way into the kitchen to get it.

Two out of three ain't bad.

It's a good day to be lazy
my feet don't wanna get cold
from being out in the ice and snow
with snow balls hanging off my fur
I think, I just prefer, to lounge here
on my sofa, and grouch about the lousy
weather out there, while I'm safe upon my couch.

What a gorgeous kitty! Do you use the lint roller to get the fur off that beautiful couch?

Gotta go now. Will be back. Have to get ready to take Cyber to the doctor. Nothing serious, but they may have to give him a pain pill, and I don't want him driving under those conditions.

Would that I were the exciting and tempestuous fellow my imagination tries to convince me I am.

At least my imagination is entertaining.

P.S. Tioga knows who I am, and she is prudently keeping her distance.
