Used to enjoy watching this on the Discovery Channel.
The best parts were seeing how New Yawkers either could 1) live in such squalid conditions; or 2) take novel approaches to dealing with those conditions.
The show featured this one robotic City code-enforcement employee. What a hack.
Then there was the guy with the "rat bat."

Two months earlier, the restaurant had been cited with having "evidence of live mice," but since then, the Health Department Web site shows that the issue was resolved.I didn't see any mice either. Not even one.
