"In December, archaeologists in Saqqara discovered the mummified remains of a doctor who was buried along with surgical tools more than 4,000 years ago. Two months earlier, the graves of three royal dentists were discovered in Saqqara after the arrest of tomb raiders led archaeologists to the site. "
These tombs had the full complement of the mummified patients from the doctors' waiting rooms. Maybe even with old magazines, or were it papyri?

Interesting how crooks seem to find the tombs before the experts do.

I think the butler did it, in the pyramid, with the ankh...

Did I win?

A different butler:

Chapel of Pa-aten-em-heb
Paätenemheb was royal butler during the reign of Tutankhamun or his successors. The complete central chapel of his tomb was acquired in 1828 with the Anastasi collection. It consists of two columns, a stela, and a full set of wall reliefs (except for the uppermost course). The latter depict offerings, a scene from the Book of the Dead, and a wonderful orchestra including a blind harpist singing a famous song about the brevity of life. The tomb has not yet been relocated.

Reuters on Yahoo | 2/14/07 | Reuters
CAIRO (Reuters) - Dutch archaeologists have discovered the tomb of the Pharaoh Akhenaten's seal bearer, decorated with paintings including scenes of monkeys picking and eating fruit, Egyptian antiquities officials said on Wednesday. The tomb belonged to the official named Ptahemwi and was discovered during a Dutch team's excavation in the Sakkara area, the burial ground for the city of Memphis, the state news agency MENA said, quoting chief antiquities official Zahi Hawass. Akhenaten, the 18th-dynasty pharaoh who ruled Egypt from 1379 to 1362 BC, abandoned most of the old gods and tried to imposed a monotheistic religion based on worship...

This reminds me ofa novel I read a few years ago, The River God, by a prolific South African writer (Wilbur Smith) all about a scribe/inventor/seal bearer in ancient Egypt and his attempt to hide his Pharoh's tomb + his own tomb in north Africa after an invasion and coup. Well-researched and fascinating! Look it up at your local library.

Actually, the novel is part of a set -- one novel (The River God) is set 4000 years ago and tells the story of the slave/scribe/inventor/physician/eunoch. The other novel is a contemporary account of rival archeological teams trying to race each other to find this ancient tomb and unlock the secret of how to enter without setting off the various ancient locks designed to kill grave robbers.

Check them out. You'll be glad you did.
