I took a look through Caskets on Parade, which keeps a section on Playboy Playmates, here, and also through my old high school yearbook. We had something like 350 graduates, and found some remarkably sad, similar stories to those of the Playmate stories here. Some of the girls who worked for Playboy or became Playmates had bad ends, but if you took a cross section of any 600 people chosen at random, you'd probably find some similar things in similar proportions.

While I was working for a fairly large fire department, I personally knew three guys who committed suicide, a couple of others who attempted it, and several killed in auto accidents and through other tragic circumstances. Bad things happen, sometimes. I'm not justifying Playboy, but this is a manufactured situation. Playmates don't die at any different rate from the general population, or for different reasons. I would concede that girls willing to pose nude are probably a little wilder than those who won't. I also think that girls who get involved in hard core pornography probably have much more drug use, suicide, etc.

President of my Senior class died the night of graduation, from drunk driving.

Scholarly nerd type, not typical hell raiser. Many assorted flavors have died since, including several in Vietnam, drugs, alcohol, suicide, auto wrecks, heart attacks.
