Would anyone else (vegetarians, Methodists, distraught polygamists) say "Alah Akbar" in a life or death situation?

No. No one else would shout 'Allahu Akbar' unless they were Muslim and committing their final act of jihad. I can't remember the last time any Christian, Jew or otherwise murdered a bunch of people while shouting 'God is Great'. Murdering for the glory of God is kind of an oxymoron.
