I just reviewed the 5th Circuit website. This appeal is docketed as Case No. 06-51489.

On February 2, 2007, Ramos (and maybe Campean) filed a motion for release on bail pending appeal. Yesterday, the government filed in response in opposition, and requested that the motion and response be place under seal.

What's up with all this sealing of public documents? What could possibly be so secret about a bail request that the court would need to seal it? I don't get it.

It will be very interesting to see who rules on the motion. If I am not mistaken, it will likely be the same 3 judge panel that will handle the appeal throughout. Or at least I think that that is the procedure.
