Silly for you. Quite a few sucessful college coaches have gone on to regret coaching in the NFL. You don't mess with job satisfaction and a good thing. Pete has said "In the NFL you get one 1st round draft pick each year at USC I get 7 or 8 each recruiting season." His last 5 recruting classes have been stellar. He maybe the new Bear Bryant or Rockne.

Carroll coached in the NFL from 1984 to 2000. He is not a college coach who would flop in the NFL, ala Nick Saban. You've got his career and situation backwards. Furthermore, Carroll has a winning NFL record--and it would be a much better record if the GMs of the teams he coached weren't idiots.
There is no reason why Carroll wouldn't accept an NFL head coaching job, if he were given total authority over personnel.
