Eagles' Reid to take leave until mid-March

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles coach Andy Reid will leave the team for a month to deal with family issues, a decision that comes less than two weeks after two sons got into separate legal trouble on the same day.

The team said Reid's leave of absence will last through mid-March. Eagles president Joe Banner was to hold an afternoon news conference to discuss the matter.

Reid is also the team's head of football operations. If he does not rejoin the Eagles until the middle of next month, he will miss the NFL scouting combine and the start of free agency. NFL teams may begin voluntary offseason workouts March 19. Reid will be back for the NFL draft April 28-29.

Garrett Reid, 23, tested positive for heroin after he caused a traffic accident Jan. 30, police said. No charges have been filed, but prosecutors are looking at the case. Police have said he could be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Britt Reid, 21, was arraigned on drug and weapons charges. He is accused of pointing a handgun at another driver following a dispute and faces a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license as well as misdemeanor charges of lying to authorities, simple assault, making terroristic threats and possession of a controlled substance.

Sounds like his boys are trying to be team mates with a bunch of the NFL playes, doesn't it? Maybe Andy needs to give them both a swift kick in the a$$ to get them re-focused on their lives.

Bad, BAD situation.  Prayers that Andy gets his house in order.

From a football standpoint, I think The Eagles are in good hands with Tom Heckert.

Looking into the crystal ball, I'm going to make a fearless prediction... cloudy at first.... coming into focus... I'm seeing after an Eagles loss... sports writers... and... someone with a phone and a BAC of .23... yes, a caller to WIP or 950am, blaming this personal time directly on any bad fortune the Eagles experience... okay, going cloudy again.

Andy's sons are both adults. He should try and offer some support buy said support should be for them to own up to their mistakes and accept responsibility for their own actions.

I'm not anyone to sit in judgement of the man, but I would think life as an NFL coach would make for an absentee father. I wish him well.

Well, that's special.

Apropos of nothing, but check out this photo from Garrett Reid showing up for court last Wednesday.  Mind you, he's not coming from Jail, he's coming from home:

Hey duce bag, would it kill you to throw on a tie and suit?  Gotta be "Keepin' it real" for the judge?

I had to go to traffic court for a fender bender last year. I wore jeans and a sweatshirt, but had a polo shirt underneath, i.e. I looked respectable. Some of the younger clowns showed up looking like they'd just come off a night of partying. Needless to say, the judge was not amused. He lit into them like the wrath of God.

LOL. I constantly pace the hallways complaining why didn't we just pick Sean Taylor instead of Eli. If there is a felon running arund crushing people, and his last name is Taylor-he belongs on the Giants. We also would have Meriman with the picks we gave up.

Check ut the Sean Taylor video on Youtube "Pro bowl Sean Taylor kills punter" or the "#1 Sean Taylor video". I have a man crush on him.
