As one who's made one or two posts over the years that .5 seconds of hindsight proved regrettable, allow me to offer a procedural suggestion:
Return to the post you're not fond of, click the 'Report Abuse' link under your posting name, send the mods a short note asking that it be removed and they'll most likely accomodate your request...
