The grapefruit diet was a "craze" when I was a sr in HS, back in the late 60s. It was all you ate, for every meal.
I did it for 3 days and gpt a bad case of citric acidosis (I just now made that term up) and had my lips break out in terrible sores.
Then I tried to switch to some grapefruit soft drink that was brand new then - can't think of the name, maybe Fresca? It did the same thing to my mouth, so I gave up.
Grapefruit was such a pain to eat, because you had to cut between the little sections - and I also hated plain yellow-fruited grapefruit and only eat Texas Ruby Reds, to this day. I don't overdo it anymore, that's for sure.
And I've taken several types of prescription drugs over the years that had specific warnings not to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice when taking them. I thought it was just something "everyone knew."
gpt = got
I know what you mean. Grapefruit takes a lot of work to eat! Anyway, I don't think a lot of people know about this interaction--but they SHOULD.
I had it happen to me, but it was short term and I caught it fairly quickly.
Virgie gets ripped on, yet again, because she wouldn't wear his ribbons.
