You train it to - when you train it you are not actually dialing the number while you are training mode.

I manually program your phone number into my phone directory. (key punch it in)

I put the phone into Voice Dial training mode. I pull up your number from the phone directory in my phone and I voice record "A Citizen Reporter" to go with your phone number in my phone directory. Now your number is ready for voice recognition dialing.

Once a phone number is trained for voice dial. Then you put the phone into speaker mode by pushing one button on the phone. Then I say "A Citizen Reporter" and it would dial you number for me.

Not all the numbers in your phone will be trained to voice dial unless you manually put in a voice recording for each phone number you have in your phone directory.

Thanks for that explanation. I have a cell phone, but not voice recognition technology.

So that means that Taz's story makes some sense with respect to not being able to call 911, but being able to call Mo?

Darn - I am not quite awake yet - but I think you understand even though there are a ton of typos in my last post.

The thing is - the voice recording you put with a specific number in the phone must always be said correctly.

Example:

Programmed Number in phone directory: 911
I could put the voice recording with the 911 phone number as "Dial 911" or "Dial Police" or "Dial Emergency Services"

Let's say I pick it to voice recognize "Dial 911" - then I would have to say "Dial 911" clearly before it would dial it - I could not just say "911" as it would not dial it unless I trained it in the phone that way.

Wouldn't a nurse likely have 911 programed into the phone? Also, what was to stop Moe from calling 911 while he was taking the ten minutes to get to the hotel? Same thing about HKS, why didn't he inform them call 911?
