With reports of BP personnel being sued for defending themselves, and these guys being put in prison, in the general population no less, you have to ask who in their right minds would want to become a Border Patrol agent now?
If they violated policy on firearms, fine. Fire them. You don't put them in prison for the rest of their children's childhood, to be killed by some felon looking to make his bones.

But none of their mistakes merited the treatment they have received. They have been railroaded to send a message... by the same Administration which let Sandy Berger walk.
