INDIANAPOLIS -- What could be better than free beer for the Super Bowl? How about having Super Bowl Monday off, too?

Employees of the Monarch Beverage Co. will be enjoying a long football weekend. The Indianapolis beer-and-wine distributor is making Monday a paid holiday for all of its more than 600 workers.

The workers were given a free six-pack of Blue Moon beer and a Super Bowl T-shirt when they clock-out for the weekend. Company officials said they decided to make Monday a holiday for everyone, because they couldn't handle all the requests for time off.

How refreshing for a company to embrace reality. :-)

Plus, how loyal would the employees be if they didn't consume a lot of the company product on the high holy day of beer drinking? ;-)

When the Packers won the Super Bowl 10 years ago, my factory job back then gave employees the day off too.

My boss said if we need, we can show up whenever. So far this year, we brought in more work than we did in all of 2003. He's cool like that.

As traditional religious devotions diminish, new devotions must be found. :)
