To: Locomotive Breath

Does the governor have the power to fire a district attorney? I assume so by the way he talks....but in view of the fact that it is an elected position, I am inclined to think that he has the power to fill vacancies, but not fire. I'm pretty sure that's how it worked in Pennsylvania, but I'm not sure about North Carolina.
