A woman is in critical condition after a wild chain of events in north Minneapolis Wednesday morning.
Police said around 7:55 a.m., Ismail Yassin Mohammed, 22, was driving a black Chevy Cavalier when he began intentionally ramming a blue and white taxi for several blocks until the cab crashed.
The cab driver and the passenger tried to escape, when the female passenger was critically injured somehow. Later, she was taken to HCMC.
After the cab crashed, police said Mohammed took off in the Cavalier and then crashed into a business. He got out of the car and then stole a school van with an 8-year-old boy in it. He let the boy off of the bus and then crashed the van into a other group of cars. Witnesses saw the suspect and were able pin him down and wait for authorities.
Police are unsure what was the motivation for these events but they have ruled out road rage.
Mohammed is in custody and has a prior conviction for robbery in 2003.
And we'll have to continue to wonder.......
Most of the local news outlets are not covering this story. This source is the only one that has identified the suspect by name. The others are refusing to name him.
