Van Halen and The Police are most intriguing. A real Genesis reunion would include Gabriel and Hackett...and that ain't happening anytime soon.

Rush? I didn't know they broke up.

I've never seen Porcupine Tree and was pleasantly surprised to see you mention them--cool Floyd-ish spacey rock.

I wouldn't waste a dime on any of these people, frankly. I don't live in the past at these prices.

"I am gonna go broke this year on concerts..." - do not go broke, but hold on to your money. "Clear them out of your life as the scandalous and evil-living lot they are", as Michelangelo Buonarroti once wrote.

Concert revenues, album sales, MUZAK royalties and speakers fees all fund the Left. Try to find other pleasures, everybody!

That does NOT apply for good Conservative entertainers and there are quite a few!

"Clear them out of your life as the scandalous and evil-living lot they are", as Michelangelo Buonarroti once wrote.

Let's have a look at Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (aka Michelangelo)

"...Romantic biographers would like Michelangelo to have been attracted to Contessina de' Medici, the youngest daughter of Lorenzo de' Medici. He may well have been, for surely she was the most comely creature in the Medici household and approximately his same age. But relations beyond polite formalities would have been impossible. They moved in different worlds; moreover, Contessina was marked from birth for a more socially advantageous match.

If Michelangelo sought relations with women, they came from a more humble station, where favors were dispensed more readily or were exchanged for money. A few poems suggest such experiences--and his ability to laugh at them: "When I look down upon each of your breasts they look like two watermelons in a bag."

Relations with men were more possible and probably more frequent. In the Medici household, Michelangelo was among a group of exceptionally learned and cultivated men with homosexual inclinations--both physically and philosophically: Angelo Poliziano, Marsilio Ficino, and Lorenzo de' Medici himself. Michelangelo was probably not the initiator of relations but rather the passive recipient of their attentions--a situation extremely common in Renaissance Florence. In turn, they offered a home that was intellectually stimulating, above moral scrutiny, and without economic or mundane obligations. Indeed, it was a privilege to be part of that select circle. It made an indelible impression on Michelangelo, and he naturally looked back on these years with nostalgia..."

It's always good to think in context of a pull quote.

How can Billy Joel have a reunion? Or hasn't he been himself lately?

I have seen NIN in concert several times and while Tent Reznor is as left wing as they come he is also a very talented musician who puts on an amazing stage show. Very few of his songs have political messages and even then they are very subtle and he almost never says any thing more than a thank you in between songs. I don't expect alcoholic and drug addicted rock stars to give sound political advice, but I do expect them to entertain me which is what I'm paying them for. After that they can do what ever they want with the money they have earned.

I understand your point of view--I've seen the Grateful Dead, the Stones, the Who, Kansas, Styx, Boston, J. Geils Band, George Thoroughgood and others--but that was BEFORE I committed to get my entertainment from somewhere that I would be GLAD about the trickle-down effect.

No more of that for me. (Kerry Livgren after Kansas became a great Christiam solo act I might see if he's still touring.)

As much as I disagree with the message in their music, Rage is a magnificent band. Thankfully, Rage isn't Dixie Chick left, it's anti-establishment left or right ("More for Gore or the son of a drug lord? None of the above! F--- it! Cut the cord!") There aren't too many band-based guitar heroes like Tom Morello left on the scene, and his work was wasted in the relatively dreary songs of Audioslave.

I gotta wonder what in the world's going on in Eddie's life that he is reuniting with David Lee Roth again. Is he just itching to perform again, does he need some cash after his multiple medical crises (tongue cancer, hip replacement surgery), or did he just look at the Rolling Stones' dino-tour generate cases full of Krugerrands and decide, "I could do that!"? Has Roth agreed to be more mature this time around, or did he become an EMT so he could continue to abuse his body and then drive himself to the ER?

I don't know if it's a good thing Genesis is back. I've been a fan since the Abacab days, but thought they had pretty well played out the string. I am not hopeful that any new CD will be made of top-notch stuff. Their last CD, the Phil-free Calling All Stations...(which seemed to be a plea for radio play) was a total mess.

I'm a latecomer to the Roxy Music fan club. I'm just now learning how influential they were on the music of the eighties -- talk about ahead of their time! There probably would be no Duran Duran as we know it if Bryan Ferry had never existed.

Of all these groups, I would be most inclined to pay a pretty penny to see The Police perform. I get the feeling they agreed to reunite for the bucks, not because they've learned to live with each other. If I wasn't sure the Eagles wouldn't be back, I'd have to reconsider that, but it looks like they've found their second wind.

Brian Wilson's 40th Anniversary "Pet Sounds" tour is getting raves, and Al Jardine is along to provide extra Beach Boys flavor. And speaking of Sun and Fun, Jimmy Buffett begins his 2007 tour next month in Florida. For those who don't know, all of Jimmy's concerts are broadcast live on radiomargaritaville.com.

I agree, you don't have to listen to the lyrics or embrace the message to enjoy the energy in the music of Bulls On Parade.

Van Halen in '07? No thanks...

Although, I'd pay money to watch Dave kick Eddie's ass.

I agree!

These groups are aging or have aged!!!!

That's fine for most of us....but put a senior citizen band on the stage...(plus paying lots of money)...and you get less than you bargained for....trust me!

I surprised my husband with tickets for the Moody Blues....

..a HUGE disappointment...

..they had backup folks for their vocals, instruments, drums, etc....

..and when they tried to hit the high notes.....(it was sad)

Saw an aging Arlo Guthrie at EPCOT.....EPCOT for goodness sakes...playing a gig...

Better to leave it to your memories.....you can't go home again.
