Google is a selctive, left-wign organization. It would probably not be open to FR or any other conservative sites.

The problem is that FreeRepublic just links to articles from other media sources. There is *some* original content, but the site simply is not organized around it. It's organized as an aggregator. So, it's not fit for Google News.
FreeRepublic could set up a blog that aggregates original articles posted by FR members. That would make it feasible to cite FreeRepublic as a news source.

This may be a sidebar to the main question but...
I signed up for Google News Alerts via e-mail under various keywords. Every so often I get Google e-mails alerting me to a Free Republic thread about the keyword. I've even gotten News Alerts to threads I posted.
So Google is "reading" us as news, at least in part.
