What really pisses off all of us out here is that Bush soiled the program with this thing.

I really think people are willing to give a program the benefit of the doubt provided the case seems to be isolated. IMO it's only once a pattern is identified that programs are soiled.

Yeah, but when the player involved is one of the top 2 or 3 highest profile guys on the team over the past six years (not to mention one of college football's highest profile guys), it registers with even the casual observers of the game. Also, when competing in a BCS environment where perception plays a significant role in who gets to play in the biggest bowl games and in the biggest bowl game, things like this come home to roost at some point. Reggie and his family used incredibly poor judgement (especially given the low-lifes they were supposedly planning to start a venture with) and the rest of the program and all of Reggie's teammates there take a hit for his actions.
