Rosie is smart enough to figue out what pro wrestlers have known for years - The "bad guy" wrestlers make more money than the "good guys." More people will turn in to watch someone they hate (hopefully go down) than to watch the good guy. She figures whether they watch to see what disgusting thing she will say or whether they watch because they agree with her, they are all watching. Note: Rosie has raised the ratings for the View.
She may be the reason their rating are up, but they are merely for curiosity sake. When people are forced to watch such hateful, negative crap like this on a regular basis they leave quicker than they came.
I predict the ratings to crash rapidly in the near future after the novelty wears off. They will also get rid of that rank self righteous pie hole.
P.S., The extreme DU hard left unemployed wackos are also part of the new audience, but their attention span is very short when there are so many new Play Station III programs coming out.
