I wondered about that too but after reading the article, I realized the similarity was that of a nationally known figure bring taken away from us in a sudden accident, right before our eyes. You know, the same sick feeling when the evidence of the rocket plume or the car in the wall with no motion within is right there in front of you and you're thinking "no, it can't be." Then it fits.
