I hoping I want see Eagles fan do their thingy on TO this season ROFL that funny part about Cowboys visiting Eagles you hear Eagle fan GO OD OD
People trash Jerry but he has only won Three Super Bowls since owning the Dallas Cowboys.
I think Parcells was a good coach and he deserves respect, however:
1) He was hired to coach a team, e.g. be a supervisor. He got 90% of the players he wanted. It turned into in a Bill Parcells high School reunion team. If he had a problem coaching TO, he should have retired from coaching a long time ago.
2. He should have gone with Romo on day one. See #1
3. He got too conservative, and predictable, in the game in Seattle.
4. Why didn't Sean Payton's offense work in New Orleans, not Dallas? See #1 and #3?
Can you say "Chuckie"?
I welcome TO back. He's only a problem because he dissed a media favorite.
Let's see how Philly fans react when McNabb get dumped by the organization.
I am sure that Jerry didn't spend all of those millions for 34-32.
The rumor mill says Gruden...
Really? Haven't heard this locally...is this national media speculation?
And a few hours ago the rumor mill was saying that Parcells was staying. Instead the tuna canned himself.
I've heard it a few times - the Glaser's quit spending money after they won the ring - a-la the Florida Marlins. The talk is that Gruden doesn't feel like the paymasters are willing to spend the money it takes to win. Jerry Jones deosn't seem to have that problem. Add to that - JJ likes high profile coaches. It's all talk, but there is some local speculation back in Tampa - Gruden has had to deny rumors that he put out some job feelers (Dallas was mentioned), and word is that he was paying close attention to the Parcells situation.
Rumor, talk, speculation, hope - call it what you want, but it's out there.
You're certainly welcome to him. He'll finish the job he started this year, and by next December the locker room will be completely dysfunctional.
Let's see how Philly fans react when McNabb get dumped by the organization.
That won't happen. There does seem to be a divide within the locker room, but if Donovan's healthy he'll be the starter.
Amen! Preach it! I understand he's a great guy, but he would not be a good choice.
He is an effective weapon that defenses cannot ignore. Many times he attracts double coverage which opens up Glenn or Whitten for the big play.
Not having the numbers handy, I thought Garcia did better than McNabb at QB.
One thing about Gruden, he won't take crap from T.O., just ask Keyshawn Johnson.
LOL
Perdogg, you NAIL it in post 43. Parcell lives off 1980s reputation, real Dallas fans who have watched the games know he hurt this team more than he helped it. Payton tried hard to take Romo with him to New Orleans, when he couldn't, he got Brees. Sure says to me Romo was ready to start the season, particularly given his great preseason. He came out the gate great too, that is until Parcells crapped on him and got in his head to be a Bledsoe-type pocket passer. Payton utterly destroyed Parcells in that fateful December game, exposing the complete lack of creativity and adjustments BP has saddled his Dallas teams with. Good riddance to a disloyal selfish overblown coach. Here's hoping we find a better replacement!
******************AN EXCERPT ****************************
I called Bill Parcells on Saturday to say something I don't often say to anyone I cover. In fact, I don't remember ever saying it in 23 years covering the NFL.
"I really want you to coach one more year,'' I said to Parcells, whom I'm known since 1985, when I moved to New York to cover the Giants for Newsday. "You've got a quarterback you love, and you're having fun. I'd really love to be around that a little bit for one more year.''
"Maybe,'' he said. "You know, football's a powerful mistress, but the commitment is ... Well, it's a lot. Can you give what you know it'll take for 12 months? That's the question. These January-to-January deals are a pretty big undertaking. We'll see. But I don't think there'll be any shame if I say I can't do it anymore.''
Decision time was near because the Senior Bowl was approaching, and that's where NFL coaches who are not in the Super Bowl go to watch players and prepare for April's draft. If Parcells was going to coach the Cowboys in 2007, Monday, at the latest, was the day he'd have to let everyone know what his plans were.
I totally agree. Jimmy Johnson was the soul of those 90's Cowboys teams. I would love to see him return.
