Anybody have a favorite Open Source application they can recommend?
My personal favorites are:
- Open Office (MS Office clone)
- The Gimp (Photoshop clone)
- Amaya (Web Editor)
- Blender (3D application)
I've also used an OCR application that I cannot remember the name of - got it from
SourceForge.

I've been forced to go Linux/Java/Mysql, not only because of cost (which isn't trivial by any means), but because in my mind I have no idea what future licensing will be like under Microsoft. This includes not only the next 25 years of my life, but especially the next 70 years of my nieces life (who will inherit some software I've developed). I'm now running Kubuntu, Fedora, and Win2000 - and I think other than an idiot machine I don't need Microsoft anymore.
