the Bears didn't have much to root for in the 60s

They had some great teams in the early 60s (they beat the Giants for the NFL title in '63 after going 11-2-1), but they weren't good again until .....around '84.

It is incredible to know that the Bears won the Championship and THEN two years later drafted Butkus and Sayers having two high first round picks. QB problems hit them big and even with Sayers, Piccolo, Ditka, Ronnie Bull, Rick Casaries, Stan Jones, Butkus, Fortunato, Doug Atkins, O'B, Rosie Taylor, Whitsell, Richie Pettibon etc. they couldn't win it again. That is FIVE Hall of Famers and a couple who could be and it wasn't enough.
