Only 2 comments since the show aired over 12 hours ago. ZERO posts during the show. Is Survivor dead? Anyone still watching?

Yes, but I just don't/didn't have time to post.

I hope that the producers hear the cry of the people who want to watch the show the way it was before, not with hand-picked people, eye candy people, but instead go for people that have flaws, and ones that WANT to be there, and have watched the show.

Hear! Hear! Last season is wasn't ye who lost the most but ye with the biggest weight gain who was going to the final 3.

Even though I knew accident prone Boo was going to do something, I did crack up when moments after the poked eye and the cut finger, his hammock fell, lol! That was the highlight of the show! I don't know who to root for at this point so I'll just stick with the starving under dogs for a team but the homeless guy as an individual. BTW, would someone please explain why, after 14 seasons, has no one yet learned to build a fire or read up on local edible flora and fauna???

What's up with that? If I was going to be on Survivor I sure would go to the video store and rent the past seasons and get my basic survival skills under my belt. Basic boy scout stuff like building a fire.

Sylvia had a flint on exile island and built a fire. Why did she not bring the flint back with her?

Just as I thought Sylvia is getting on the nerves of her teammates. That's another thing. Bossiness has gotten people voted off in the past. Don't these people watch past episodes?

The homeless cheerleader has told his story ad nauseum already. He mentions it just about everytime he is on camera.

My first impression of Rita is that she is basically useless but will gladly ride the coattails of others in this game.

Glad to see Erica go. I'm not sure exactly why but I didn't care much for her. Everytime I looked at her I was reminded of the musical Hair.

I like Anthony. He seems like an all-around nice guy. It remains to be seen what he has brought to the table in this game but I just find him pleasant. I feel the same about Earl right now too.

Cassandra reminds me very much of someone from a past episode of Survivor.

Build fire?

It is easy to build a fire with flint and steel. When the first Survivor came on I took my little girls out in the back yard and they learned to do it. No problem.

Using a lens would be next in line but requires strong sun, a steady hand and good tender. Most glasses and improvised lenses will not do it.

The friction methods are not so easy. Bow and string would be the easiest to master but for all the methods getting the hot coal and transferring it to the tender is the hard part. Takes a lot of practice.

The keys to all of them is to have something dry and fine to catch the spark/coal and slowly transfer up through the tenders to the wood. Practice, Practice, Practice.
