Flip sides of the same coin. The right's nuts can be just as bad.

Under totalization, Mexican workers could qualify for U.S. Social Security benefits with as few as six quarters of work, rather than the 40 quarters normally required of U.S. citizens. This means 18 months of work for illegal alien versus 10 years for US citizen or legal resident.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 1.8 million workers have applied for trade adjustment assistance as a result of jobs lost because of NAFTA.
And now, the big daddy to the TAA,
"Globalization Adjustment Assistance". If this country wasn't rushing headlong into socialism before, it certainly is now. Many of us have been saying that "free trade" is the force for global socialism, and the evidence is everywhere.
The GAA socializes a huge number of American wage earners, and leaves the tax collecting on earned wages to a smaller and smaller group of unfortunate citizens, whose wages are being used to pay for globalization and to redistribute American wealth to third world nations with the slave labor pools and communist or totalitarian leaders.

Flip sides of the same coin. The right's nuts can be just as bad. However, I'd rather be wrong their way than your way. If we oppose and work against a move as described, use our time and effort to insure it doesn't come to pass, and it was not a threat to begin with, we've lost nothing but time and effort. If we ignore it as meaning nothing, and it turns out to mean what they fear, we've lost our nation.

Thanks for the great post.
Virgil Goode has a better voting record than 98% of the Republicans in the House of Representatives.
You can trust Virgil Goode to do "the right thing."

Well West Virginia, where does Senator Byrd stand on this issue? Funny, from your post you don't sound too "rebellious."

Thanks for the great post. Unfortunately the mods immediately banished it to "chat." .....best place to hide it..
Yep, Goode's conservative credentials are top-notch.

While NAFTA has brought some good to Mexico, such as better healthcare and some new jobs, the end-product has been a population explosion and an over abundance of working age people, far beyond the necessary workers needed. US corp. farming and manufacturing methods in Mexico have further decreased the need for workers. These practices would partially explain the greater influx of illegal immigrants into the US. The end-product in the US, with the addition of millions more people, is just beginning to raise it's ugly head. Maybe this freetrade thing needs to be better thought out.
