I'm sure his thought process went like..."Should I give the ball to LT? No if I do that and they stop him then folks will accuse me of being too conservative. Plus the Patriots probably are expecting it. So what I'll do is go away from the best player in the league and let my first year QB try to win it instead. Yeah, that's the ticket."
Shades of Mike Martz going away from Marshall Faulk in the Super Bowl.
Yeah if I was on a team with idiots like that I would "chair 'em" in the locker room after the game for each and every idiot-like celebration. If I was on TO's team he would have a permanent concussion!
Bring back Barry Sanders, he ran into the endzone, handed the ball to the ref and went and sit down on the bench. "He" was a football player, not a "star".
I am soooooo sick of "football stars."
No doubt. That wide receiver Parker had to be on the PAT's payroll.
I don't think the Pat's won that game so much as laying back and letting the Chargers lose it. Oh well, a W is a W and its on to Indy for Tommy and the boys.
It will be interesting to see if Peyton can exorcise his big game demons or if, like Marty, he just can't climb that mountain.
The guy who made it famous is in jail.....
Mark Gastineau
So, LT, what's more disrespectful:
1) A high-profile, crucial member of your team's defense taking steroids to artificially enhance his on-field performance and abilities, or;
2) The team that came from behind to win the game mocking his stupid "'Roids Out" dance?
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
And to think...the Pats WR's were the ones ripped all week.
Too many players wear body armor today. While I don't think that watching a ball leave the park is cool, I cannot stand punks like Roger Clemens who hit guys for having the nerve to hit one of his pitches.
Sanders deserved to have a better team around him.
Still... in jail?
Wow last I heard he got sentanced to like 2 years and that was back in 2000 I think.
What did the idiot do now?
Let's not forget his moronic roughing penalty against Bernie Kosar that helped cost the Jets their 1986 playoff game against the (if you can believe it) Marty Schottenheimer coached Browns.
I think part of their frustration came from that they never for one second all of last week and throughout most of yesterday's game thought they were going to lose. That shock of defeat just got to them.
I wasn't aware of that, but w/ Brady back there they really don't have to be worldbeaters. All they have to do is play to their level and NOT drop the freaking ball.
Yeah but damn he was fun to watch...
I'll never forget when he was on one of his breakaway runs and the defender had the angle on him, Barry does a jump stop right as the defender arrives, circles behind the defender and continues running down the field. Now the defender is looking back at Sanders as they both head to the end zone. The poor defender had no idea what to do next heheh. He tried to stop and grab Sanders, but Barry sidestepped him and strolled in to the end zone.
I sometimes wonder if Sanders had any clue on how he did those moves. I just don't think the human mind can react that fast via conscious thought.
The Chargers were looking ahead, thinking they had this one won, which goes to show that when it comes to the Pats and the playoffs, it ain't over 'til it's over.
See ya in Indianapolis next week!
I know but all year the local media completely wrote of this team's playoff chances because they no longer had Branch or Givens. They're eating crow this morning.
Better luck next year under Wade Philips, guys. LT deserves a ring. Hopefully he gets it without Shawne Merriman's help.
He's the best I've ever seen. I saw him live once and he was incredible. He could change direction and never slow down a bit.
Marty looked like he'd been hit by a truck after the game. He knows he's coached his last game in SD.
That's the exact same thing I thought. And I garauntee you Shothimselfinthefootagainhiemer did not have control of those thugasses he has on his team. Everyone, except LT of course, dispite his classless, clueless remarks I give him a pass because he is one of the Classiest players in the NFL, I'd be pissed if I lost like that too angainst a team where there was no question who should have won the game! The SD OC should have given LT the ball at least 20 more times the way he was running the ball. SD would have cleaned the PATS clocks had SD just given LT the ball. However, you're going up against Brady and Belichick now 12-1 in the playoffs, Hey do you see this 12-1 nobody even comes close to that record, EVER!!
Let's face it the Pats played awful. They should have gotten beaten badly. There is no question SD was the better team all around, but the system belichick has created gives his team the best chance to win games. Belichick knows exactly what he is doing and eventhough he knows his teams weakness, he still manages to overcome other teams strengths.
NEVER, EVER, bet against the Pats, the odds will never be in your favor if you do.
You don't think they'd promote Cam Cameron instead?
