I don't think that Safari is a particularly good browser.

In OSX, I tend to use Firefox, and in Windows (Vista), I think that IE7 is probably the best.

Point. I use Firefox myself, but before I moved to it I inquired of Apple why I didn't seem to be getting broadband performance from my cable modem. They recommended upgrading to Panther to get Safari, and the performance was far superior (to IE) (comes to that, there are some settings you have to tweek in Firefox to take advantage of broadband).

But the point that Apple's phone runs Safari is also well taken.

It has terrible memory problems. It's the only app I use that crashes regularly.
