A man has been treated in hospital after nailing his hand to a coffee table in a freak accident.

It is believed that Brett Tearne suffered the injury while he was with a group of friends.

An ambulance was called to his house in Morriston, Swansea, where medics found him with a nail going through his left hand and into a coffee table.

Police told the South Wales Evening Post they were not treating the incident as suspicious and that it was an unfortunate accident.

One neighbour told the newspaper: "We heard a lot of noise and saw the ambulance arrive but nobody really know what happened.

"The whole thing sounds extremely nasty. I'm glad I wasn't there to see it."

A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, told the paper: "Tools should be used for the use they were intended.

"If people start mucking around with them then it's likely something could go wrong.

"What starts off as an innocent prank can end up with a lot of pain and suffering for someone."

They have a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents?!!! How cool is that? This is the main reason I posted this story.

And this doesn't even get into the man that stole the 'public facilities'. (The link for that is at the bottom of the article.)
