With three family members currently in Iraq, and a fourth set to deploy for a second tour, NO, I DON'T SEE IT THE SAME WAY YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS SEE IT. Have a nice day.

She did NOT issue a statement; she said this at her home to a gaggle of reporters with microphones in her face.

She DID issue a statement and the video at TMZ is just that.

The man standing with her...her husband or publicist...I don't know, responds to a reporter's questions by stepping forward and saying, "That is the statement. Please respect our privacy."

Now, the video at TMZ conveniently starts after the alleged Iraq comment.
I, for one, do not believe that she even said it since TMZ is the only source reporting it and as such, decided to NOT post video of it to back up the quote. Video they should clearly have in their possession.

You act like you are the only one with family members in Iraq. Many of us have been there and have family there too but can tell the difference between on person's statement being positive or negative. Hope you family is safe during their time in Iraq.

Actually, she did say it; I saw it live when she first arrived at the house.

I just think TMZ made it sound like they got a written statement; you know how they all do "Exclusive interview" and then it's on ALL the shows?

Then that's it then. I stand corrected.

I will withdraw and lurk on a different thread since this one seems to be getting rather vitriolic concerning Ms. Somers' intent.

You are so mature! I can't believe it. Oh well you aren't worth arguing with anyway. You obviously are a cut and run type. I have followed the thread and you could not keep up with anybody. A pity to say the least.

I'm immature? You make that inane comment about me "acting" like I'm the only one with a family member in Iraq with respect to this thread, and then have the gall to call me immature? Grow up youngster.

Still? My gosh, nobody in the entire country said one word about this except this TMZ article.

As I said up the thread, she seemed in shock and was just babbling, as you can see on the video.

Myself, I wonder why TMZ edited out the very part they put in their article title.

You know they have it.

Look we are both on the same side of the isle. I cannot believe that both of us are in this arguement over Susanne Summers! Because of that reality, I am DEFINITELY apologizing to you because she is not worth getting into this type of arguement. If it was something more important than both of us could discuss it even if pissing each other off, but Chrissy Snow is not worth it IMHO. Have a great day. Until another thread, later...

You're right, of course. This is not worthy of losing our FRiendship or self-respect over. My humble appologies to you. I thank you for pointing this out.

"My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."

Suzanne is simply listing situations which would be more emotionally devastating for her than losing her home.

This a classic example of the thinking process of an optimist and it's also a refreshing change from most of the worthless drivel I hear coming from the mouths of "celebrities."

Suzanne, in a situation which would be heartbreaking for any of us and which is worsened by the intrusion of cameras, puts her loss in perspective by listing two situations which would for her be much worse: the continual worry over a child in harm's way and the death of a loved one.

At a time when we have an overabundance of celebrities to criticize legitimately for their anti-Americanism, we should, at least, give Suzanne Somers the benefit of the doubt or, as I choose to do, admire her for her optimism, lack of self-pity, and courage in the face of a devastating event in her life.

Her ability to focus on what she will learn and how she will grow from the experience while the smoke still rises from the ashes of her home is heroic and admirable.

Thank you, Lord, for not making me like that man over there!"...

How about this one: "There but for the grace of God go I." IMO both give the same message, as in, God favored me with grace, but not that poor sucker over there!
