Yep. I tend to believe my friend's account though, because 1) he's my friend. LOL! and b) He was firmly in the 'Roth' camp.

I rememeber that he was really disappointed. Or maybe disillusioned would be a better term. He had never seen Roth with Van Halen and was really looking forward to the live show.

I also recall comments varying wildly based on which show was being discussed. Dave seemed to be rather inconsistent, which I figured had more to do with not stepping on stage for a while, than anything else. DLR's time in the spotlight was fairly brief, when you think about it.

The saddest thing of all was when he performed the bluegrass version of Jump, and looked so insanely happy just to be on stage. That's on YouTube as well... and it's just cringe-inducing. Though I'll admit, hearing a banjo player rip through an Eddie Van Halen solo was quite entertaining - in a completely surreal sort of way.
