Klutz was first to 100,000.

In looking at the old threads I came across a few gems.

Bush_Democrat, did you ever get that system running for your son in the Peace Corp, and if so, is it still running for The Gipper?

Well, he's home from the Peace Corps finally, and is up in Santa Cruz now, the bastion of liberalism, getting his Masters in Mathematics. I'm planning on getting a hold of his laptop when he comes home this summer and try and 'borg it when he's not looking....

My other laptop is dead right now, so I'm choking along with only 3 'puters going right now, but I've got another two or so I'm trying to bring on board. I'm tired of seeing my standing fall....

I had an interesting run-in with a computer customer that was convinced that Bush is the anti-Christ or something similar. He was even more offensive toward Bush I and Reagan.

I bit my tongue, let him lecture and cleaned off his system of the spyware that he loaded on. "Gee, how did that get there? Must have been fishhooked!"

I loaded on a piece of protective software that he must never touch and must let run all night at least once a week.

Good ole' F@H Antivirus. 36120 is the password. Jim only contributed for about 6 months, but I sure enjoyed seeing his points post.

I do not like to borg (too much), but some liberal nuts deserve to find a cure to keep the Reagans of the world functioning longer.

He always started off conversations as a conservative but only denigrated Republicans. Of course, in Texas, he may have been mad at the existing power structure of local politics.

There are some customers that I don't mind if they find a new geek. He is certainly one of them.

LOL! My son got a new gaming computer. While he was out one day, I loaded FAH console version on it. He has no clue that it's there. His processor [the fastest of my 3] is the reason that I'm going to make it into the top 100. He's gaming away in there right now.

Especially for gaming computers, use the F@H console 5.04, and have it launch as a service.

Because it does not present any graphics there is little chance of F@H conflicting any game. F@H runs in the background, and drops out if any games start up.

You've done good!

I have to stop my console service before running madden because for some reason, it keeps minimizing Madden to the desktop until I NET STOP the folding. I just made a BAT file to net stop it, then another to start it.

I haven't had any games that couldn't coexist, but I don't have every game!

Is Madden known as a game that takes all the horsepower of a computer to run smoothly?

Thanks for the info!

This is for all you FAHMonitor users, who are also using the new SMP client. (That should narrow it down some!)

There is a bug (reported to F@H by me, et al.) in the way that the new SMP beta client (or the projects assigned to it) are reporting status in the unitinfo.txt file. This is causing problems with FAHMonitor's ability to match the WU with the official WU entry, so that points aren't being tallied/reported correctly by FAHMonitor-- and, presumably, other third-party reporting apps.

Until Stanford fixes the problem, please let me know the project number of the SMP WU (found in the FAHLog.txt file) as soon as your machine finishes it, and I'll correct the history entries manually... assuming you even care about this! ;-)

Thanks for your patience!

For the technically minded, here's the issue:

The project name usually consists of a number and a name, and is reported in the unitinfo.txt file like this:

Current Work Unit
-----------------
Name: p2124_lambda_5way_melt_4_10011
Download time: January 2 01:45:46
Due time: April 22 01:45:46
Progress: 93%  [|||||||||_]
Instead, for the new SMP WUs, only the name is being reported-- and often isn't even matching the official entry.

Current Work Unit
-----------------
Name: SMP-nsv-03
Tag: -
Download time: January 8 19:43:05
Due time: January 10 19:43:05
Progress: 88% [||||||||__]
In this particular case, the name matches three different entries, with two different point values.

The results from your first folding haven't shown up on the donor list yet.

Can you look into your FAH folder, open up "unitinfo.txt" and copy the text here?

I'll bet that you are nearly finished, but I want to be sure that you are able to upload results.

My unitinfo.txt looks like this:

Current Work Unit

Name: p2126_villin_sigd3
Download time: January 10 13:42:25
Due time: April 24 13:42:25
Progress: 5% [__________]

Congrats to davemaher for hitting 300,000 points!

Egon, are you completing the SMP beta clients that are coming your way? How have the new clients affected your daily point totals?

My brother just hooked up his handy-dandy new Mac notebook (see "Micromol" under my FAHMonitor page), and downloaded the SMP beta client. It's set to automatically only pick up the new SMP work units.

He's screaming through them at the rate of one every 24 hours or so. Each are worth between 590 and 716 points. I'm a very happy folder!

On the flip-side: I'm convinced that the p1496 and p212x projects are the scourge of the devil. My 24-hour averages have plummeted lately.

This makes josephw happy, but doesn't really do that much for my self-esteem!

A FAHMonitor/SMP update:

I've put in a work-around to help deal with the bug in the SMP client (or projects).

If you give me the WU number from your FAHLog.txt files, I can update the projects/history on the fly now.

Of course, in looking at the FAHMonitor history and server records to date, I'm talking to a group of one: me!

Most of mine are 212x WUs. Did you notice I got nothing yesterday. Getting harder and harder to pass by my fellow freepers.

However, I do have a new goal. To be among the top 5000 contributors.

Well, misery loves company, so: I'm happy yet sad for you!

I may be able to stave you off a bit longer, with some help from my brother and a couple of his recent acquisitions-- but it won't last forever!

One advantage to the current round of work units is that everyone is equally dinged. Also, it may take a while to complete them, but I had almost 2,400 points on 6 WUs yesterday. It feels good when they finally post.

Was it JCEccles that is out of the country for a while? It seems that he should be back before too long.
