I don't see it in anyone of your's...so there might be something to it.

He does look like he could use a bit of support under his heel. Have you asked your farrier about it? I wonder sometimes if things don't come on gradual and they don't notice, but would if it was pointed out. Just a thought.

One other thing that this farrier did was put an even smaller size shoe on Harley...He commented on how small his foot was for such a big guy. I'm not sure that is good or bad. But he put a 00 on him. Chris was shoeing him with a 1 up till last time and I had him put a 0 on hoping it might help to keep him from pulling them off. Chris always said the biggest mistake farriers made was putting too small of a shoe on a horse...LOL...Now I don't know what to think. I'm going to let this guy call the shots for a while and see what happens. I guess it can't get much worse then it's been already...sooo I don't know anything else to try.

One thing that I notice with Harley even with the new shoes is the shoe is outside the hoof. Bay's never is... the shoe is even with, or even slightly under the hoof. It'd be near impossible for him to step on it.

Now... Perhaps the side I'm seeing is the outside and there's no way he could step on it... and I did see the part he ground and rounded. But I wonder if it couldn't have been fit a little more under his foot. Is there a reason you know of?

I may mention it next time... But I look at other feet like that "good" example you posted and it looks about the same? I dunno. I sortof feel like I have to accept that this is the kind of shoeing my farrier does and it either works or not... If I try to tell him to change it to match some image I have about what it should look like, he might try to do something different and mess up something else. Like this last shoeing of yours with Chris... doesn't it seem to you like when he was asked to do something different (the angles) Harley got worse as far as pulling shoes AND being sore?

Yeah - let this guy shoe and see how Harley does.
