Pinging AAM to post# 1564. You seem to know a lot about the Saints and stuff. I thought you'd be interested in this one.
I just almost got trampled. A horse charged the fence as I was chaining the gate. He hit the side of the gate first and his body opened it up and I went with the gate.
This is the OTHER St. Anthony - not St. Anthony of Padua, but St. Anthony the Abbot (San Antonio Abad). He was the first monastic, was terribly tempted by the Devil, and is the patron of gravediggers as well as horses, mules, and pigs. (If you've ever heard of a "Tantony Pig" - it was named in St. Anthony's honor.)
A painting by Il Moretto, showing both St. Anthonys and St. Nicola di Tolentino. (St. Anthony of Padua is the Franciscan, in gray - St. Nicola is the Augustinian, in black.)
