This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Nope! I normally would, but went to a retirement party tonight, so I'm pretty beat.
Bratty kid at what barn? (curiosity killed the cat, I know..)
Oh my - I certainly hope not. I don't ever remember being that stupid. Not only stupid but not a very good friend either.
A particularly nasty little girl on the horse.com forum :)
LOL - isn't that the truth :)
So you don't "lose" it again, I would create a shortcut to the program (is it Excel?) on your desktop.
Beaker, this is a long thread but read through it.

This is where the particularly nasty girl is.
Hey, I hope you don't mind if I just jump in. I met hairofthedog over at the Hobbit Hole and she told me about you guys, so I've been lurking. Duchess47,while you've got your baby enclosed are you planning to imprint him? Seems like a good opportunity. We imprinted our newest foal, who is three now. It was so much fun and he has become the most wonderful horse. We'd never done it before but we'll do it every time now. I'm totally sold on it. It makes the mare so much calmer, you know how sometimes they get really possessive and won't let anyone near the foal? Anyway, what I wanted to say tonight is if ya'll know anyone looking for a good dog? We are searching rescues for a dog and we ran across these two yesterday at Garland Ranch Rescue in Lancaster, CA. They are Great Dane/Black Lab, 18 mos., been at the shelter for a year. Both black with white chests, tall but not too big, about 80 lbs. They are a little energetic from lack of attention but we really liked them. They both calmed down quickly once we got them away from the noise of the shelter. Their names are Banjo and Frisco. We thought they were both curious and interested, calm and easy to handle, and really beautiful. They'd make great ranch dogs or family dogs, easy going and focused. They said they take them to adoption days every weekend. They ride in the car, but they live in the kennel so they have no house manners yet. I don't think they are what we are looking for, but I'd sure like to see someone give them a good home. They've been there a long time, only because they are big dogs, not because there's anything wrong with them. If you know anyone who might be interested tell them to call Karen at 661-267-2848. And Freepmail me. I'd like to know if anyone goes to see them. I can send a picture of Banjo. I'd love it if these dogs found a home. Have a great weekend, everyone. Pre-season baseball! WooHoo!
Hey, welcome to this thread:), hope you stick around.
Becky
I'm excited for you! Remember the camera!
Snowing to be the beat the band, this morning again! A nice fresh coat, since the old stuff has melted.
Athelass, they sound like wonderful dogs and I hope they find new homes soon. I read/heard somewhere, that large black dogs are the hardest to find homes for.
The Goldens are still here. We put a flyer at the local super market and I called two local vets. The one wants me to bring the male in tomorrow and see if he is micro chipped. She was also going to call breeders in the area and see if anyone knew of dogs going missing.
They might be microchipped, that's a good plan.
Good morning everyone!
Good morning athelass...
They sound like terrific dogs, all dogs deserve a home. Our rescues seem to find us :~)
We try to imprint all our babies - some get it more than others. :) We've only missed the birth of a couple of them so the majority are imprinted at birth. Sam was a bit but since his momma was a first time mom, we didn't spend a lot of time with him.
He is totally unafraid of people and accepting of touch and scratching but not much more yet. You are right, it makes such a difference in them, throughout their life.
Wish I could help you with the dog rescue but I've already got six dogs with another one coming in April. Three of the six are rescues. As are six of the cats, three of the chickens, the lovebird, the llama and four of the horses :) I just turned down taking on a peacock yesterday. I've reached the limit of my paycheck.
Hope you find the owner of the dogs.
Funny how the homeless end up at people's homes that can help them. Chilly here today. Yesterday we were around 80. I went outside in shorts and barefooted last night to look at the moon. It was nowhere to be seen and a cold front had come in.. They said it was past time for the eclipse so I guess the cloud coverage was blocking.
Welcome. I'm mom of a sailor too. He works with Marines:')
