This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Beautiful baby...congratulations.
I love the picture of him looking out from the front of mom:)
Becky
And here's one of one of the barn kitties that Cav gave me. I wasn't zoomed at all on this one. I was actually that close to him, so the close range focus works pretty good too.
So far I really like it. I haven't tried the video on it yet, or the panoramic stitch feature but if they work as well as the rest of it then I'll be pleased. Plus the whole thing isn't much bigger than a deck of cards. I like it that it doesn't have that big ol' zoom lense sticking out the front like most 10x cameras do, so it fits in a shirt pocket quite nicely. It looks like this when it's on...
When it's off, the lenses are covered by a little metal shutter.
He seems a sweetheart but it's hard to get any real good pictures of him yet. Friday is still in new mom mode and so she's trying to keep him safe behind her. And then she looks at me like, well, I don't really mean you :)
I love the pictures. That's a great camera. Does it use the AA batteries?
Good pictures! I'd love to have a 10X zoom.... next camera!
Well, we've decided to go ahead and apply for that barn position... so getting cleaned up here, then a run over to turn it in.
Good for you, it doesn't hurt to apply:)
We are very windy here again today. Rain is on the way, so they say. Feels like it. very warm and humid.
Frog, great camera, great pictures. I love the 10X zoom:) Have fun with it:)
Becky
No, sadly it doesn't, it uses lithium-ion, but they're in-camera rechargable so that's not quite so bad. I'll have to wait to see how well they hold up when I get to taking lots of pictures and videos. It has a HUGE display and it comes on every time the camera is on (unlike my old camera which had a viewfinder in addition to a pitifully small display which only came on when you told it to) so I'm sure that's got to draw a good bit of juice.
Good luck! It sounds like a really good opportunity for somebody who has a flexible work schedule like y'all do, plus it just sounds FUN. I'm sure it'll have it's down side, just like any other job, but it sounds like you'll learn alot. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
A baby! Look at those legs:') He or she ( mixed pronouns around here).
:) He - has got some really long, strong legs. He's a sweetie, still haven't figured out a barn name, toying with Sam...Samson, but we'll see.
So how'd the interview go?
Becky
Oh - no interview today... just turning in the app.
Not even sure they'll call!
My husband and I are watching Reno extreme bull riding. Reindeer (ms?) is still the bad bull. He's up to 25k now. The guy stayed on, maybe 2 seconds:')
One of my favorite sports. I love the rodeo clowns that keep these guys safe.
They are awesome. We only like to watch on tv though. We went to a live one and it was really boring. A few seconds of excitement every 15 minutes or so. We didn't know who was riding who and the canned jokes were groaners. I forget her name but there is a freeper that raises rodeo bulls. I talked to her last year. During hurricanes they move them out.
Your flowers in that corner bed are gorgeous.
Now that you mention that about the saddle, wasn't the video called "saddle troubles" or something like that? I bet you're right on the saddle fit.
I rode Bud again yesterday with my bareback pad and things went even better than the day before. We did walk/trot/canter (I forgot how rough riding Bud is, ouch) and went for a short trail ride on my back trails. He was a perfect gentlemen, even with the wind blowing a gale. The only thing he did that bothered me was when he caught site of the barn on the way back, he broke into a trot. He's never been barn sour so that was a surprise. I checked him back into a walk and he stayed in it, although walking very fast.
Morning prayers for your sister....Keep us posted when you can.
Your foal is beautiful.
Praying for your sister.
He is beautiful isn't he? I wonder if he will change colors. You said it's been 3 years? Doesn't surprise me at all that Bud was happy to see the barn:')
