The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I don't see clydesdale in him - looks very quarter horse to me.

Sister is fine, just very nervous. Surgery tomorrow. Check in at 9:00am, surgery starts at 10:00am PST.

Friday foaled this morning, 6:30am. Very large, solid, dark red colt. I'll get pictures and post this evening of TE Gold Bar :) - no barn name yet. Momma and baby doing fine. Vet due at 1pm.

It is very sad when you have to do that, especially since over time, they become friends. It's just that the horses welfare and soundness is more important.

A solid? I never would have guessed that! Glad everyone is healthy :~)

Prayers and best wishes for your sister's surgery.

Surprised us too that he's solid. Odd color, very dark red. It will shed out to a different color I'm sure, that's always a surprise.

Thank you for the prayers for the surgery. I spoke to her this morning - she's a bit nervous, as we all are.

Well, she's a dark red, under the white, I guess!

Here's the kid, about five minutes into this world.

I just couldn't stand it, had to come back home from work. I'm going to get some more pictures so I'll post some of them, hopefully where you can see more. Check out the very long legs on this foal.

Is that an interesting marking on his face in the second pic, or just birthing gunk?

Ooooooo, what a cute little head he has! And he's all nice and fluffy now. He looks just adorable peeking out from behind his Mama in that first picture. I'm gonna miss having babies this year! Post Sonny's picture again. I always like looking at him.

Isn't that funny that he could not have a speck of white on him. :~)

He's very cute... got good meat on him, nice strong healthy looking foal :~) Looks like his has little tipped in pointy Arab ears.

Can you watch youtube at home? Our computers aren't so clamped down. Which is bad, because I could sit and surf all day instead of doing work!

Can you watch youtube at home?

I could if I wasn't too cheap to get my own internet connection at home. As it is, I dial into work and then go out through there. It's nice that I don't have to pay for it, but it sucks that they block so much stuff. One of these days I'm gonna get satelite internet. I live so far out in the sticks that there isn't even any DSL, much less cable internet.

He sure is a well built horse! Not too heavy, just right for speed and distance. I just don't see how there wasn't at least SOME white to come out of a union of those two!

Wow, they are soooooo filled in. That looks great.

I think if I stood out there I could see mine perking up:)...Today there are lots more blooms, and they look really good. It's suppose to rain tomorrow, so that will probably beat them back down...
