I don't know... we aren't much for competing these days...

She's rock steady by temperament but she only started leading on trail late last summer. Before that, she'd stop when in front and not want to go forward. No dancing, no spinning, just stopped. I like that, it's a safe way to react. Since my husband was pretty new to riding, we didn't push it and we let her follow for a year. That's in a strange place though... at home, she just wants to get into everything. She has some fine tuning she'd probably need to pass some of the tests in a trail competition... She doesn't side-pass, for one, we've worked on it a little, but not enough.

No, they aren't coming here. My daughter has all 5 horses, and I'm going back to be with them for at least a while in March. I guess I've got the long commute! Husband/horses/husband/horses... is there much of a contest here??

I guess some see the judged pleasure trail rides as competition but I just enjoyed being out and having fun with the obstacles. We don't have much really nice trail riding within an hour's drive. I want to start doing more with our horses than just showing or riding on the farm but the logistics can be tricky.

Cyn looks like she's worth her weight in gold. Just solid, trustworthy and a character.

She is that, cj.... we just couldn't ask for better for my husband. She's kept him safe learning to ride, and that's worth a lot. :~)

Weeeeeell............ I guess not... ;o)

I must've misunderstood. I thought you'd said that you were in Houston permanently and I guess I just assumed that you'd move your horses. That IS an awfully long way to have to haul. It's good that you've still got your daughter up there to take care of them so you don't have to worry about them.

Hey, what is going on in Iowa? My DIL just called to get a copy of her birth certificate and there is a recording that they have had an emergency at the court house and have evacuated and to call back in an HOUR after they check things out! I kid you not. I didn't believe her and had her call back and listened on the speaker. An evacuation recording? What next. Chuckling.

oh, my hubbie is permanent, but it is sooo expensive to haul and then to keep them -- or even only one of them. At home we have a farm and are all set up. The more homesick I get, the less permanent this gets for me lol. But you are right -- I'm not worried about them. Or the 2 dogs, or the 6 cats...

We should make some plans to meet with our horses and go for a trail ride this year. Estogen lives North of me, so maybe we could get together, somewhere in the middle.

Now that this bathroom project is completed, I can concentrate on getting a trailer ordered.

The lady who bought Maddie and Sable sent me a email and some pictures. She said the mares are doing great! Gaining weight and have wonderful manners. That made me so happy to hear that. I was going to write to her this week and see how they were doing.

This is not the lady who bought them, looks like a teenager to me.

Halter and lead rope. Yahoo!

Sable looks a little more relaxed, than Maddie did.

Strange! Let us know if you find out what the deal was.

We had one of the local schools in lockdown yesterday. Seems that one of the girls who was held hostage in Columbine was here last week giving a talk to the kids about her experiences and all that, and it must've triggered something in one of the more unstable students because there was some kind of a threat made, whether in writing or on MySpace or what ever, because they had the SWAT team and the whole nine yards waiting on him when he got to school yesterday morning. I don't know exactly what came of it, but people are getting crazier and crazier I think.

Well good! glad to hear they're turning out well there, and that both can apparently be ridden. That's a good thing, they needed you.

Wow, that's great news! I really like the way they seem to want attention from the girl in the picture. That says alot about their care and the way they are treated. They really look good physically too. I don't think you could've picked any better of an owner for them. I love happy endings!

I called back. I was going to record it but they were open. There is nothing funny about threats but I thought a voice message was. It was like we are closed for lunch or something.

Yeah, that is kinda strange. Sorta like leaving a message on your home answering machine that says "Sorry we can't come to the phone right now because there's a serial killer with an ax down stairs and we have to be quiet."

But then again, I guess leaving the message about the exact nature of the problem might keep people from calling, getting no answer, and then just deciding to go on down there and possibly contribute to the problem by adding to the crowd of onlookers that inevitably appears when stuff like that happens.

That's true. UGH It is cold and raining again. I don't feel like doing anything. I would be in trouble if I had months of this stuff. I can't remember a cold spell lasting this long before. Heck, even when we has a White Christmas in was warm and sunny the next day.
