The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm curious about how she paid for the ad - most places don't advertise for free and require a credit card or paypal. She had paypal I think, which should lead to some actual information on her but I don't think anyone would release that information except to law enforcement.

Yeah - that should lead to a real name.

I'm totally clueless - I thought that they would at least acknowledge reciept of the complaint but they didn't do that either. I probably ought to make the time to check horseville again and make sure no more of my horses are there :)

We are all under shelter but they are saying heavy rains coming over the weekend.

Made it into the nearest Walmart/feestore and came back with enough stuff to supply an army/cavalry.

And now for the toasted bananas!!

We were going to Houston this weekend but I think we will push it back a week. My husband is looking for a new truck but there is no hurry.

No, the roads out to the highway are still solid ice. We are suppose to be above freezing again tomorrow, 38, but then we are forecast to get 5-8 inches of snow over the weekend...

The Bixby newspaper office is in our building next door to Jenny's shop. The lady who does all the local reporting got a call that the fire department was on a call to a little town next to Bixby, that was about a barn collapsing because of ice on the roof, with 3 horses inside. The fire department was on their way to dig them out. I'll find out the outcome tomorrow

Good Morning.

Happy Friday to all!

Becky, there were a few shots of building roofs collapsing on the news. I hope the horses are ok. Keep us posted.

Almost all our snow and ice is gone.

It came to Ohio.

We can handle it...

Our ice is still here full force, even after a day above freezing. Today we are suppose to hit 40, but then Sat. another blast comes in and we are looking at the first of the week before any thawing happens:(

And you thought you weren't going to get a winter!

I think we'll lose the last traces of ours (at least this round) today, it's raining steady now.

At least your mud can go back to being mud instead of those nasty looking pointy things. I don't know which is worse. We've been dry here for a while and not too cold. It's been cloudy all week but today we're actually seeing the sun, so that's nice. It's supposed to rain again on Sunday and Monday though.

I've got the farrier coming tomorrow to reset Bob and Hope and put new shoes with borium on Bladerider's two. I was hoping we could squeeze in a ride afterwards but her step-son is with them this weekend so that's a no-go. But that's ok, I've still got stuff to do around the barn that I didn't get done last weekend. It's always something!
