The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I haven't had a chance yet to catch up on the news but I think they got hit pretty hard. I think they had two nights of freezing temps.

Oh boy it's getting worse instead of better. Our temps this morning were 4 degrees - we were having a heat wave compared to you.

Spending money, even if it's just planning always makes me feel better when I have cabin fever. Fill out orders for a garden or tack or something.

No, I'm not going to be doing anything different then I normally do, other then I am giving them some hay at night now. But I didn't start doing that because of the cold, but it helps:)

Yeah, we've been that low before, I think it's been a while. I did leave my faucets dripping thru the night. This morning nothing seems froze up:)

I'm up early, Jenny is sick and Travis is bringing me Tucker to keep today, he will be here around 6:30.

Well, I thought these geeks were worse then in the few years I've seen in the past...All that crying and cussing, that didn't happen as much all year last year as it did in one night this year. It's like everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame....They can't seriously think they can sing,,,,surely not??

There was an awful lot of crying, and they stayed too long. I was, of course, embarrassed for them. :~)

Tonight they're in Seattle.

Morning. We are at 34 this morning. The roads look dry so I'm going to head to work in a bit. Can't get anything done around here. I don't know if we got to freezing last night or not. I decided my oranges were on their own and went to bed. Someone told me a cold spell like this makes them sweeter if it doesn't kill them.

Hey. Yeah still here thinking it's cold outside:') I'm in a better mood today though. You know anything about dsl speeds or stuff like kilo seconds and megobites?

...I keep finding flies and stink bugs in my bedroom...

Heh, Beaker, you think maybe you ought to take a bath? ;o)

...Had a looong day at work today...

Sounds like a bad one. Those scalpel blades are so sharp you can almost just look at one and they'll cut you. Good thing you weren't working on a human or you'd have to go through the whole Aids prevention treatment. Even so, be careful with that stuff. I don't know if you can catch diseases from animals or not. I've wondered a time or two when I've stuck myself with a needle after giving one of the horses a vaccination. ~:-/

ATT has several speeds. They run from $21-$39 dollars a month. The lowest is 768 kil seconds. The highest is 3 mg bites. I told the saleswoman that I didn't know the difference and to just tell me in seconds how long it takes to open or refresh. She said she didn't know. I asked her what I had here and she said she couldn't tell because she was in the business department and couldn't access residential or something like that.

If you're used to dial up, even the lowest will seem a lot faster than that. It depends on what you want to do. If you just want to view normal web pages or be able to download full length movies. For normal web browsing, the lowest might be adequate for you. For me, I'd get the highest, but then I'm used to cable and even that fastest one is slower than mine... and FWIW, I pay more than that for our home cable service.

Good Morning.

We had some snow overnight, but the sun is shining this morning. Rather cold thou.

Yesterday was really busy. I bought my gooseneck hitch. The trailer dealer also has a woodstove/fireplace shop. We went there to buy a heat shield and inquired about the hitch. I still have the rails in my truck, so all I have to do is bolt it in.

The trailers that I am interested in, have a full nose. My truck is a short bed. The fifth wheel camper I had, had an extended king pin, so that set the trailer back some. With the LG trailer, it will be much closer to my back window when I turn. A lot of the gooseneck trailers have a pointed front end, so there is more clearance for turning. I sure don't want to pop out my back window.

Yikes... it never occurred to me why they were pointy in the front. :~) No - don't want it to come through the window!

Good morning!

..."smoke" started coming out of her mouth.

LOL! I'l bet that was kinda shocking to someone who's never seen it before. I saw that it was snowing in Houston this morning. I wonder if p2b got some of it.
